We’re three weeks in with our Daintree pup Darwin (formerly Crush) and we could not be happier.
The Experience:
We’ve known we wanted a Toller for quite a while and we spent a number of months “lurking” Daintree’s social media before we decided it was the right time to commit. When we submitted our application we were immediately impressed by: (1) how responsive Daintree was, and (2) the level of detail and thought that Trisha had put into the questionnaire to apply (it was clear she was looking for committed owners like us). After a phone interview – where we were equally invited to ask as many questions of Trisha as vice versa – we decided Daintree was the right breeder for us.
We loved that Trisha allowed us to have sneak peaks into the puppies’ early days, posting daily updates and pictures. By the time it came time to pick up our puppy, we felt we knew him already and loved all of his littermates too.
Unfortunately, we were scheduled to have our Gotcha Weekend at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Trisha was proactive and flexible and created a solution that allowed us to all get our pups. While we are sad we missed out on what would have been an amazing weekend, we are so grateful she made the arrangements for us to get our pups safely.
Our Pup:
While we are only three weeks in, it is already apparent that Trisha has set Darwin up for success. He came to us knowing to automatically sit and look at us if he wanted something from us – super impressive.
At this stage Darwin is calm (seriously he’s the calmest puppy we have ever met!) and quick to pick up new skills. He is tentative in new situations, but quickly opens up once he understands he is safe. We have a lot to learn yet together, but we are so excited for a lifetime with Darwin.
Trisha:
Trisha is absolutely lovely and is clearly passionate about her dogs. She takes the time to get to know her puppies’ future pawrents and matches the pups with the owner that will suit them best. She is so warm and friendly and once this pandemic is over, we can’t wait to go back to Nakusp to have a proper visit.
